Pancakes and Chocolate Cake
This week the year 7 students made Pancakes and Chocolate cake. It was a busy lesson. Making Pancakes requires manipulation of the heat so that the pancakes don’t burn but also are not undercooked either. It is a good lesson to develop an understanding of and confidence in using conducted heat safely and effectively. Rachael and Bradley proudly show their completed products.
The Chocolate cake was made by Taylor and Indi as part of a project for life skills. The actual cakes turned out well and were firm enough to provide a good structure while remaining soft to eat.
Washing up and sweeping is also something that needs to be done as part of the completed process

This is a photo of us separating the strands of pasta. We used a pasta machine to roll and cut the strands of pasta. We found that it was easier to separate the strands so they didn’t stick together if we rolled the pasta out slightly thicker at about the size 6 setting on the pasta machine. We served the pasta with a creamy smoked salmon sauce. It was delicious.

My philosopy about cooking is that it is an integral part of all people to want to cook something nice and share it with others. I never really know what any one cooking class is going to produce it is always a delightful experience to progress from a mixture of ingredients on the front table to each person in the class walking out with a yummy product.
